It wasn’t easy.
Avril had kept details about her pregnancy and baby a secret until she recently decided to have an interview with Parents Magazine. That’s where she opened up about all her struggles before and after she gave birth
The singer had actually taken a long time to have a baby and many wondered why. Apparently, it was because she had Fibroids.
Fibroids are abnormal growths that develop in or on a woman’s uterus. Sometimes these tumors become quite large and cause severe abdominal pain and heavy periods. In other cases, they cause no signs or symptoms at all. The growths are typically benign, or noncancerous. The cause of fibroids is unknown.
According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), about up to 80 percent of women have them by the age of 50. However, most women don’t have any symptoms and may never know they have fibroids.
Intramural fibroids are the most common type of fibroid. These types appear within the muscular wall of the uterus. Intramural fibroids may grow larger and can stretch your womb.
Avril spoke about her situation:
I had two fibroids when I was pregnant and the doctors speculated that that could have been the reason it took me longer to conceive
We are glad she was finally able to conceive. Trying to get pregnant can quickly take over a woman’s life, especially when it takes longer than she first expected.
Infertility is extremely difficult emotionally. The fertility challenged can get sucked into a whirlpool of sadness and obsession, and it’s not uncommon for those trying to conceive to even become depressed.
But there’s never a need to despair. Just make love a lot, have hope and keep seeing a doctor.
