Dejan Lovren is set to miss Liverpool’s clash with Brighton on Saturday, according to reports.
The Croatia international was forced off with a hamstring injury in the first half of Liverpool’s defeat to Wolves in the FA Cup on Monday evening.
Jurgen Klopp faces a selection headache for the match against Brighton with Virgil van Dijk being the only first-team central defender available.
Joe Gomez remains sidelined until February after suffering a leg fracture, while Joel Matip is not fully recovered from a broken collarbone.
According to The Times, Liverpool are likely to be without Lovren for their trip to Brighton but are hopeful that the 29-year-old’s injury is not serious.
Fabinho could deputise in central defence against Brighton, while 16-year-old Ki-Jana Hoever is another option after replacing Lovren in the defeat to Wolves.
Georginio Wijnaldum is also able to cover at centre-back but the Dutchman has played a key role in Liverpool’s midfield this season.
